Welcome to Hinsdale Haute Route.

Currently offering two yurts, the Jon Wilson Yurt and the Rambouillet Yurt.

The new Rambouillet Yurt is now available.

Maximum occupancy for both yurts is 6.

The Jon Wilson Memorial Yurt is one and a quarter mile from Highway 149 with 500 feet of elevation gain.  It is a great destination for families with youngsters or beginning / novice backcountry hut users.

For winter users, Wilson's close proximity to the trailhead allows groups to drive for hours, arriving at the trailhead in mid afternoon and still have time to reach the yurt before sunset.

For summer access to Wilson, the Sawmill Park road starts off steep, but is two wheel drive accesible by most vehicles to the parking area which is located 200 yards from the yurt.  If the road is wet it may require four wheel drive.

The first two tenths of a mile from Hwy 149 are STEEP gaining 200 feet in elevation.  There is a slightly less steep option for hikers, snowshoers or skiers going left 25 yards or so from the start and rejoining the road near the top of the steep section.

The Rambouillet Yurt is 4 to 5 miles from Hwy 149 depending on route, with 3 options.

Sawmill Park route past the Jon Wilson Yurt, the High Route from the Summit of Slumgullion Pass and the groomed snowmobile trail in winter/PowderhornHorn Gulch road in summer.

Summer hikers can follow this same route.  Road access for 4X4 vehicles and OHVs continues on the Sawmil Park road taking the first left after entering Rambouillet Park.  Take the next left and the yurt will be a quarter mile on the left.

Winter users melt snow for water.  There are no water sources in summer and guests need to bring their own.

For those wanting a yurt to yurt trip, web site currently requires separate bookings for each yurt...
